When it comes to landscaping, the first priority is garden care. After all, that’s what we’ve hired professionals to do! But you can do a lot of things to make sure that your home and garden are safe and that you don’t have a heart attack when someone visits. Here are some tips.
First, start by covering any windows or doorways with window treatments. That way, the only people who will be able to get in are those with the proper identification. For some houses, doors should also be treated. Unfortunately, a lot of homes have drapes with screens that extend out the window. If you want to get a lot of protection, the screen will need to be cut down to size.
This may seem obvious, but the first thing you should do after adequate garden care is to treat any rotten wood with a sealant. Not only will this keep out bugs, it will keep out water that might cause rot. And if you do have tree limbs and other wood pieces lying around, make sure they are covered. There is nothing worse than stepping on a hundred-year-old branch, so that’s another reason to cover.
If you have drapes on your windows, get rid of them before you start to paint your home. Keep them covered as much as possible, even when the weather is pleasant. Use a matte paint, not glossy, because this will help keep the home dry.
It’s a good idea to have the blinds on your home removed because there are so many different kinds of weather conditions that can destroy your home without anyone knowing about it. As long as you can see out of the windows, you’ll be fine.
If you have a doorknob or any knickknacks on the outside of your home, the last thing you want is for a thief to slip through your windows while they’re inside, climb up and grab the wrong things. If you have a security system installed, this is a thing that will never happen. However, if you have a doorknob with a remote, you may want to keep it locked so the thieves can’t use it. Otherwise, you can let your children play with it, but put it away when you’re not playing with it.
Using a garden hose on an outdoor garden is a great idea, but be sure to turn it off when you go to bed. A garden hose on an indoor water feature can dry out the hose and then cause you problems.
If you have a sprinkler system in your yard, you’ll want to replace any bulbs that have died. This can be costly and a small mistake like this can lead to a major problem. Sprinklers are not always the most reliable water source, but sometimes they come through and your watering times can be adjusted for you so that you have enough water for your lawn.
Be sure that children under the age of ten are out of the house during the warmest part of the day. This is because children under the age of ten should be taken to the pediatrician for yearly checkups. Also, be sure to wash your hands after you come home from work because germs can be easily spread between people if they’re not properly washed.
A lot of the issues that children have at home are the result of germs and bacteria. A child who has been consistently dirty all day can be extremely contagious, so keep a healthy habit of hygiene going. This will keep germs away from the rest of the family, not just the child.
With proper steps taken in proper garden care, you’ll be able to feel better and look better about your home and its surroundings. It’something everyone can agree on.
